A CASE STUDY OF RECURRENT PHYLLODES TUMOR IN A 16-YEAR-OLD ADOLESCENT
Phyllodes tumors are rare fibroepithelial breast neoplasms, accounting for less than 1% of all breast tumors. They exhibit a spectrum of behaviors ranging from benign to malignant, with a significant potential for local recurrence. Diagnosing and managing these tumors, particularly in young patients, is challenging, as they often mimic benign conditions like fibroadenoma. This case report presents a 16-year-old adolescent tribal female with a recurrent benign phyllodes tumor, initially misdiagnosed as a giant fibroadenoma. Six months post-lumpectomy, the patient experienced tumor recurrence, prompting further surgical intervention.
