EVALUATION OF CLINICO-RADIOLOGICAL AND FUNCTIONAL PROFILE OF PATIENTS SUFFERING FROM BRONCHIECTASIS ACCORDING TO FACED SCORE

Background: Bronchiectasis, a once-neglected disease, has secured increased recognition in the past decade, and yet does not have well established and known disease severity scores. The severity assessment is required for appropriate treatment of the patients, stratication of the risk of complications occurring, reduction of the costs associated with known disease. A combination of clinical, radiological, functional as well as microbiological aspects can be used to assess severity of the disease. The present study was conducted Material and methods: from July 2022 to January 2024 at Jaipur National University, Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Jaipur. It was a prospective study conducted on 100 cases, presenting with previously or newly diagnosed bronchiectasis. The study cases had a mean age o Results: f 53.7 ± 12.68 years, and the age group of 46-60 years had the maximum number of individuals (34%), with females accounting for 51%. Smoking habit revealed 60% were smokers. Most common clinical symptoms and signs were cough with expectoration (90%) and crepitation (100%), respectively. Most common grade of dyspnea observed was 2 (40%). Haemophilus inuenza was the most prevalent organism (35%). Single lobe was involved in 32% of the patients. The most common type of bronchiectasis was cystic (75%). The most common functional impairment was obstructive (50%). On evaluating the FACED score, most of the cases were of moderate disease (48%), followed by mild (36%) and severe (16%) cases. In c Conclusion: onclusion, the results of our study present the structure and corroboration of the FACED score, which is simple to use, interpret and elucidate in patients with non-cystic brosis bronchiectasis, as well as being multidimensional, on regard of its conglomeration of different key aspects of the presented disease.
