Complex bifurcations in turbulent flow: a brief essay based on functional analysis and non-newtonian fluids
Turbulence remains one of the most challenging phenomena to fully describe in fluid dynamics. The Navier-Stokes equations, governing the motion of viscous fluids, exhibit complex bifurcation behavior as certain parameters, such as the Reynolds number, are varied. Traditional studies focus on the bifurcation of solutions, particularly through Hopf bifurcations leading to periodic and eventually chaotic behavior. However, much of the existing literature focuses on Newtonian fluids, where the viscosity is constant. This paper explores new directions by extending the analysis to non-Newtonian fluids and investigating how complex boundary conditions and generalized Sobolev spaces affect the bifurcation structure in Navier-Stokes turbulence.
