Impact of the use of different types of quaternary treated wastewater effluents in carrot crops growing: Uptake and accumulation of contaminants of emerging concern in soil-plant system and human health implications
• CECs uptake trend in carrot was WWTP Effluent > Ozonized Effluent > Accumulated Effluent. • Carbamazepine showed the highest uptake in carrot and soil samples. • CECs concentration in soil were approximately 10 times lower than in carrot roots. • Tertiary ozone-based treatments decreased the content of chlorophylls and carotenes. • Carrot consumption by babies posed a health risk through carbamazepine ingestion.
