A Configurable Harvester Emulator for Intermittent Systems
To reduce battery maintenance costs and environmental impact, there is a growing interest in harvesting energy for IoT networks. Evaluating intermittent software in a large, distributed network is challenging due to the variable efficiency of energy harvesters at each node and the high cost of on-device power controllers. To address these issues, we propose a configurable harvester emulator designed to accelerate the development of distributed intermittent software. This emulator stably replays a reference environmental energy trace and provides repeatability and reproducibility during the development stage by eliminating the variance in the efficiency of energy harvesters during testing in intermittent networks.
