Activities of living: expressing sexuality
This article discusses the complexity of care provision related to the expression of sexuality, the tenth activity of living in Roper et al's (2000) model. Sexuality encompasses the physical, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of health. Discussing sexuality in an appropriate and sensitive way can enable healthcare assistants and assistant practitioners to foster a comprehensive understanding of patients' needs. Furthermore, the article highlights the importance of cultural competence and ethical considerations in delivering sensitive sexual care. Recognising sexuality as an integral aspect of human experience can lead to better patient-centred care, promotion of sexual health and a meaningful contribution to the holistic wellbeing of individuals.
