Evaluation of Integrated Smoke Detection and Fire Prevention Systems Using Cisco Packet Tracer
This paper presents the design and simulation of an integrated smoke detection and fire prevention system using Cisco Packet Tracer. This demonstrates a comprehensive network of smoke detectors, fire sprinklers, sirens, and smart devices, highlighting an effective approach to fire prevention and emergency response. In the proposed system, smoke detectors are strategically placed in critical areas such as bedrooms, washrooms, dining rooms, and the kitchen. These detectors are connected to a central control unit that monitors and manages their status. Upon detecting smoke, the sensors immediately communicate with the central control unit, which then activates the fire sprinklers and alarms integrated into the network. The fire sprinklers are designed to suppress the fire, while the alarms alert the occupants and potentially a monitoring service about the danger. Additionally, the system includes a carbon dioxide (CO2) detector that monitors air quality. If the CO2 levels in the room exceed a threshold of 60%, indicating poor air quality, the CO2 detector triggers an alert to address potential hazards. The use of Cisco Packet Tracer enables a detailed visualization and simulation of the system's real-time behavior.
