Towards Sustainable Aviation: Utilizing Range Equations to Optimize Hybrid-Electric Aircraft Propulsion System
The aviation industry faces a pressing need for sustainable solutions to curb its environmental impact. Hybrid-electric aircraft (HEA) present a promising path towards achieving this goal. This paper explores the optimization of HEA propulsion systems by leveraging established range equations. We delve into the application of these equations to model the relationship between HEA design parameters and achievable range. By analyzing the interplay between factors like battery capacity, engine efficiency, and power distribution strategies, the research aims to identify optimal configurations for various mission profiles. This approach promises to maximize the range and efficiency of HEA, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable future for air travel. The paper further explores the limitations of the range equation approach and proposes potential avenues for future research in this domain.
