Study of Memristor Based Logic Gates Performance and Comparing with CMOS Realization
Energy-efficient and high-performance electronic devices lead to exploring alternatives to traditional CMOS circuits. Memristor-based logic gates, such as basic gates (NOT, AND, OR), universal gates (NAND, NOR), and arithmetic gates (XOR, XNOR), are implemented and compared with CMOS counterparts. The memristor is a parasitic device and non-volatility that is used in memories, logic gates, and neuromorphic systems. The memristor changes its resistance with an applied voltage, switching between high-resistance and low-resistance states. The memristor gate designs have an evident potential for faster switching speeds, power, and better noise margin (NM) enhancement. The integration of memristors with CMOS technology may leads to hybrid architectures that optimize both speed and power efficiency.
