Expressing the near future with lexical and grammatical means of the Tatar language

The research aims to determine the compatibility of lexical means of expressing remoteness with grammatical forms of the future tense in the Tatar language. The article examines the criteria for differentiating future tense forms, identifies means of expressing near remoteness and their preferential compatibility with specific grammemes. The work is novel in that it is the first one to discuss the expression of near remoteness at the level of morphological and lexical means in the Tatar language. As a result, it was found that in the near future zone, the combination of lexical means of small remoteness with the form of the indefinite future tense is preferred, while greater remoteness is combined with the definite future form. The representation of a larger time interval implies a decrease in the modality of the categoricalness of the action in the future, as a result of which the definite future form is in demand. When explicating a small interval, confidence in the implementation of the action is high, as a result of which the use of the indefinite future form is allowed. Localizers of the exact interval are freely combined with both forms of the future.
