Potensi Sediaan Nanokitosan Ekstrak Daun Mimba (Azadiractha indica A. Juss) terhadap Fertilitas Tikus Putih Betina (Rattus norvegicus)

The potential of neem leaves as an antifertility compound in female rats needs to be studied more thoroughly because they contain various toxic secondary metabolites. This study was aimedsto examine the effect of exposure to nanochitosan ethanol extract of neem leaves as an antifertility compound on female white rats. Extraction and manufacture of nanochitosan using 70% ethanol solvent. A toal of 24 adult female wistar rats aged 2-3 months were used as experimental animals. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and eight replications. The treatments given were P0 (aquadest), P1 (ethanol extract of neem leaves at a dose of 14 mg/kgBW/day), P2 (a nanochitosan preparation of ethanol extract of neem leaves at a dose of 14 mg/kgBW/day). The treatment was given orally for 21 days. Observation of fertility was carried out by observing the corpus luteum and measuring the rate of pregnancy through mating tests. Data was analyzed by using Analysis of Variance. The results showed that the highest Gonadosomatic Index(GSI)score was found in the P1 group because it was influenced by gonad weight and individual response variations. Exposure of nanochitosan preparations of neem leaf extract to the number of corpus luteum showed a difference with the lowest result found in the P2 group. The lowest success rate of embryo implantation was found in treatments P1 and P2 with embryos not developing or resorption. It can beconcluded that exposure to nanochitosan preparations of ethanol extract of neem leaves has a very effective antifertility effect on female white rats.
