Innovative Dual-Band Lampshade Patch Antenna with Stepped Slots and Partial Ground Plane for Ka-Band Applications

This study presents a novel method for the construction of a lampshade patch antenna that is capable of functioning in dual frequency bands. The layout incorporates three stepped slots in addition to an additional slot that is located in the partial ground plane. The FR4 substrate is utilised by the antenna, which operates in the millimeter-wave frequency range. It was specifically designed for the Ka-band, which has resonance frequencies of 26.56 GHz and 28.5 GHz. Extensive simulations were carried out with HFSS in order to investigate the effects that were brought about by varying slot numbers and dimensions in the ground plane. A reflection coefficient of - 88.287 dB, a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 1.0001, a bandwidth of 3.81 GHz at 28.5 GHz, a gain of 11.1 dB, and an impedance matching of 50.002 ohms are some of the outstanding performance characteristics that have been investigated. The suggested antenna is therefore very well suited for use in Ka-band applications due to these characteristics.
