Performance Analysis of Isolated Solar PV-Powered Processing Circuit for Light Electric Vehicle
Recent trend shows the usage of PV power for both AC and DC microgrid. The paper aims to validate an integrated charging system that consists of both the generation and utilization aspects of sustainable energy. The generation part focuses on harnessing solar energy through a photovoltaic (PV) array, which is connected to a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and boost converter. MPPT optimizes the power output from the photovoltaic (PV) array and the boost converter efficiently converts the output from the MPPT into a stable input for further processing. A three winding isolation transformer is used for better safety. The inverter's output is subsequently connected to a step-up transformer, which generates two distinct outputs. One output is directed to an Induction Motor (IM), serving as the primary power source for the system. Simultaneously, the other output is channeled to charge the battery. This delineation allows for a flexible power management system, optimizing energy utilization. The utilization part of the system involves the IM running in open loop condition for a stable input and the battery operating independently. In instances where solar energy is insufficient to power the IM, the charged battery seamlessly takes over, ensuring uninterrupted propulsion for the system. Detailed analysis, mathematical expressions and simulation are carried out in MATLAB and real time analysis is done Typhoon HIL 402.
