“Algo que tem raízes e voa”: o hibridismo musical na carreira discográfica da banda Tocaia da Paraíba
This article aims to historicize the recording career of Tocaia da Paraíba, a band created in the city of Cajazeiras, in the Alto Sertão da Paraíba, in 1995. Based on the albums Tocaia (2000) and Botando pra quebrar (2005), the aim is to understand how the group wove sound, visual and identity representations that hybridized the local and the global: local through musical expressions such as coco de roda, repente sertanejo and banda cabaçais, found in the soundscape of the sertão paraibano; and global through rock, adding ideas of contestation and connection with “universal” cultures and themes.
