Optimizing Cooperative Alliance Transactive Energy Framework for PV-based Multi-Microgrids Using Scheduling and Cooperative Game Theory

The increasing trend of installing renewable energy sources, such as PV systems, for sustainable energy development can raise significant challenges, particularly related to energy consumption issues, due to the involvement of PV microgrid (MG) clusters on the distribution network side. This study proposes an optimized cooperative alliance transactive energy framework to address these issues and promote increased self-consumption of PV energy, thereby minimizing the impacts of PV-based multi-microgrids on the main power grid. This framework aims to minimize the overall operational cost of the system and ensures equal benefits for all the contributors. Optimal scheduling, incorporating the mathematical modeling of MGs, has been employed to schedule their operations more effectively. An optimizing cooperative alliance framework based on the Shapely value method has been considered to distribute the benefits equally among the participants. To demonstrate the superiority of the proposed framework, a comparative analysis has been conducted between the proposed cooperative alliance framework and the independent operation of MGs (i.e., without a cooperative alliance) to highlight the economic benefits.
