Simulation and Analysis of the Use of Dynamic Voltage Resoster (DVR) on the Power Line Against the Effect of Voltage Sag and Voltage Swell

One of the problems in the power system that is important to pay attention to is the quality of electrical power given the large use of non-linear electronic loads. Power quality problems such as voltage sag and voltage swell often occur in distribution systems during disturbances that can cause damage to electrical equipment, sudden motor stops, digital equipment resets which causes loss of data and damage to undervoltage / overvoltage relay network safety equipment which will cause voltage disconnection in the power system. For this reason, power electronic devices such as Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) are needed to compensate for voltage in the event of a disturbance in the distribution system, namely by injecting the voltage as needed. Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) consists of several main components, namely DC energy storage unit, Voltage Source Inverter (VSI), low pass filter, injection transformer and control system unit. In this study, the simulation results of 70% voltage sag conditions experienced a voltage drop of 30% from the nominal voltage (100%) 20 kV, which became 0,7 pu, after the installation of DVR the voltage can be restored to 1 pu. The 130% voltage swell condition experienced a voltage surge of 30% from the nominal voltage (100%) 20 kV, which was 1.3 pu, after installing the DVR the voltage could be restored to 1 pu. Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) can restore voltage to 1 pu by supplying voltage to each phase experiencing voltage sag and voltage swell disturbances.
