Integrating Peer-to-Peer Energy Markets in Distribution Systems: Challenges and Solutions for High Charging Load and PV Penetration
This study investigates potential Peer-to-Peer energy markets can be integrated into electrical distribution systems, with a focus on rising demand for electric vehicle charging and the growing penetration of photovoltaic technology. P2P markets improve grid flexibility, efficiency, and resilience by facilitating decentralized energy trade. A modified IEEE 33-bus system is used in the study to examine how different PV and charging load penetrations affect important grid performance indicators such as voltage stability, system losses, and congestion. Increased charging loads worsen congestion and voltage instability, but larger PV penetration dramatically lowers system losses, according to the research. To increase grid stability and performance in such dynamic conditions, future work will concentrate on improving P2P trading systems and creating sophisticated algorithms.
