Development of a Web-Based Geographic Information System and Artificial Intelligence to Promote Village Tourism Destinations in West Java

Currently, strengthening the Tourism Industry in Indonesia through sectoral economics in several regions can be accelerated. As case studies in this research show, several tourist villages in West Java Province in Indonesia have received the Indonesian Tourism Village Award 2023 from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy-Republic of Indonesia. The problematic issue in this study is the lack of promotion of the potential of tourist village destinations based on applied technological innovation, for example, developing a web-based geographic information system (GIS) and utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) applications as technology that is now widely used. The main objective of this study is the development of a web-based geographic information system and the use of artificial intelligence to promote tourist village destinations. This study uses Applied Research methods. System development uses Rapid Application Development with the throwaway prototyping technique in developing the Web-based GIS. Data collection using field observations was carried out to identify more potential in tourist villages. The result of this research is a web-based information system and the utilization of AI for the promotion of tourist village destinations, especially in West Java Province, Indonesia. This research contributes to the government’s program to enhance sectoral economic growth in West Java Province.
