Multi-Objective Hybrid LF-GWO Based Optimal Location and Sizing of Multiple PV-DSG Units for Voltage Profile Improvement

This paper proposes the optimal location and sizing of Photovoltaics (PV) and Diesel Generator (DSG) units which aim to decrease the total active power loss and enhance the voltage profiles. According to the voltage instability in the power system, many types of energy sources and methodologies were applied to improve the power loss and voltage profile. The hybrid levy flight (LF)-grey wolf optimizer (GWO) technique is proposed to solve the problem of the optimal location and sizing of DSG and PV units. Moreover, the multi-objective functions are also proposed in this paper using three objective functions: power loss reduction, total cost reduction, and carbon emission reduction, respectively. The IEEE 33 bus test system is selected to verify the proposed methodology. The simulation results showed that the optimal DSG sizing is 846 kW installed at bus no.16 and bus no.29. The optimal PV sizing is 100 kW installed at bus no.13 and bus no. 20, reducing the active power loss by 51 %. Moreover, the overall cost reduction of the grid system can be minimized by 3.9 %, and the carbon emission reduction can be reduced by 12.7%. Therefore, it can be verified that the multi-objective hybrid LF -GWO-based on the best location and sizing of hybrid PV - DSG units can satisfy the grid code requirement.
