Conceptual Design of Solar Power Generation System for a Propulsion of Automated People Movers: A Case Study of Nongrawiang Learning Centre

This study presents the conceptual design of a solar power generation system to supply electricity to an Automated People Mover (APM) at Nongrawiang learning centre, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan (RMUTI). The conceptual design encompasses calculating the APM's energy requirements, determining the optimal tilt angle for solar panels, and rating the solar panels and battery systems. The APM, operating from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, requires a battery capacity of 2,813.41 ampere-hour (Ah) for five days of operation without solar power. A solar array system with an optimal tilt angle of 38 degrees was selected, providing sufficient energy throughout the year, even in the least sunny month. The solar power system comprises 36 solar panels and 192 deep-cycle batteries. The location of the solar power generation system was pinpointed. This initiative aims to promote sustainability and achieve zero carbon emissions, aligning with global efforts to reduce environmental impact.
