Hemorrhoidal disease

Hemorrhoidal disease is common. External hemorrhoidal thrombosis is its main painful manifestation; its treatment is most often medical. Bleeding and limited prolapse can be treated with infrared coagulation or rubber band ligations. In case of failure, grade 4 prolapse or anemia of hemorrhoidal origin, surgery is indicated. Pedicular hemorrhoidectomy remains the most effective treatment.
