MOBILE HEALTH: ECG MONITORING FOR ATRIAL FIBRILLATION DETECTION
This systematic review examines the use of mobile health (mHealth) technologies, such as smartphone apps and wearable devices, for detecting atrial fibrillation (AF). The review includes studies assessing the quality and performance of mobile apps and smartwatch algorithms, as well as the clinical validity of ECG measurement and photoplethysmography technology. Findings suggest diverse results, with some studies indicating promising sensitivity and specificity for AF detection. However, there is a need for further research to develop reliable algorithms for diagnosing and managing cardiovascular conditions using mHealth technologies.
