Enhancing Efficiency and Stability in Electric Vehicle Charging: Integrating Green Energy
In this paper, the focus is on improving the efficiency and stability of charging electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) as they become more popular. It is recognized that increased usage of the traditional power grid for charging purposes can lead to higher costs and strain on the grid. Therefore, the paper suggests incorporating local, renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic (PV) panels and wind converters into the traditional grid to enhance its efficiency. PV panels are capable of converting sunlight into electricity, while wind converters convert the energy of wind movement into mechanical power. By integrating these renewable energy sources with the grid, it becomes possible to power EV loads using clean energy. However, PV power generation is intermittent and dependent on factors like location and weather conditions, making it less stable. To compensate for this variability, a battery storage system is proposed to store excess energy and ensure a steady supply of power. The charging station described in the combines solar panels, wind energy, and grid connectivity. Hybrid charging stations aim to be efficient, safe, and adaptable to various situations, providing more options for EV owners. By utilizing a battery storage system (BSS) and enabling a more diverse load for electric vehicles, the strain on the grid is reduced. This approach significantly improves overall performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
