Dual-Band Performance Enhancement of Square Wheel Antennas with FR4 Substrate for Sub 7GHz Applications

Advancements in wireless communication necessitate antennas with robust dual-band performance, especially within the sub 7GHz spectrum. This range is critical for various applications due to its balance of coverage and capacity. However, achieving optimal dual-band functionality presents challenges in antenna design, particularly in terms of size, efficiency, and specific absorption rate (SAR) safety standards. Traditional square wheel antenna designs on FR4 substrates offer a starting point, but they often fall short in meeting the stringent requirements of modern wireless systems. The proposed work introduces a novel design and arrangement of square wheel structures to enhance dual-band performance. A comprehensive dataset encompassing surface current distributions, radiation patterns, and SAR values provides a multi-faceted approach to antenna analysis. Experimental results, derived from simulations, show marked improvements in antenna efficiency and radiation characteristics, while maintaining compliance with SAR safety limits. The conclusion drawn from this study is twofold: firstly, the modified square wheel design on FR4 substrate significantly enhances dual-band capabilities; secondly, the design maintains low SAR levels, ensuring user safety without compromising performance.
