Nanobubbles Generation System for Bacteria Removal in Water through Hydrodynamic Cavitation

Hydrodynamic cavitation is emerging as a sustainable solution for clean water, offering a by-product-free treatment method. Where the formation and collapse of bubbles is used for the degradation and cleaning of contaminants. This article investigates the elimination of Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria through the implementation of a hydrodynamic cavitation system composed of static mixers, Venturi tubes and perforated plates. The findings show that an initial concentration of $84 \mathrm{CFU} / \mathrm{mL}$ after a period of 50 minutes was $0 \mathrm{CFU} / \mathrm{mL}$. This implies total sanitation of contaminated water. This technology reveals an important biocidal power, which makes it very effective in the purification and disinfection of liquids. Bacterial cell membranes faced weakening and death due to the combined mechanical and chemical effects of cavitation. The study also examines the benefits and limitations of the cavitation system in practice.
