Advancing Cardiovascular Health Risk Assessment: A Comprehensive Study on Heart Attack Prediction Using XGBoost Models and Cross-Validation

Cardiovascular diseases especially heart attacks still are the primary reason for death worldwide. In this era of development, the application of machine learning methods in medicine as a promising direction for the early forecasting and prevention has come up. In particular, this research paper discusses the implementation of predictive models developed to assess risk for heart attack based on XGBoost in regression (XGBRegressor) as well as classification (XGBClassifier). A solid 10-fold cross validation methodology was used to train and validate the XGBoost models. The regression model provided an excellent MAE of 0.2793647702, which represents the capability to predict risks in heart attack severity. Concurrently, the classification model showed excellent accuracy with receiver operating characteristic area under the curve (ROC AUC) of 0.9973 indicating how efficient it was in identifying those at risk and not at risk individuals. Besides the evaluation of performance metrics for models, this study highlights the importance of utilizing machine learning to predict heart attack. The introduction of advanced algorithms leads to informative analysis with understanding complex structures and risk factors timely detecting individuals predisposed towards suffering from cardiovascular incidents. Applying XGBoost leads to high predictive effectiveness, which provides a solid foundation for future research and improvement in the cardiovascular health area. It has the ability to change how healthcare is delivered through accurate, timely projections which can enable measures that are preventive and pertinent. Therefore, as one studies machine learning and cardiovascular health for better predictive models that reduce heart attacks globally, new developments more innovations will arise.
