The Role of Low-Dimensional Neural Networks in Solving Complex Inverse Problems

Complex “inverse problems” arise in many areas of science and engineering, from medical imaging to computer vision, and are notoriously difficult to solve. In order to solve these issues, it is frequently necessary to rebuild underlying system characteristics in order to learn previously unknown information from observed data. To address the large dimensionality and ill posedness of these issues, recent breakthroughs in neural networks, in particular low-dimensional neural networks, provide novel approaches. This in-depth look of low-dimensional neural networks examines its theoretical underpinnings, real-world applications, and disruptive potential across several fields. Low-dimensional neural networks solve problems like overfitting and computational inefficiency in high-dimensional data by lowering dimensionality while keeping vital information. This kind of network improves the consistency and precision of results in fields such as computer vision, geophysics, and medical diagnostics. Before the advent of deep learning, inverse issues were often solved via mathematical models and iterative techniques. Inspired by the human brain, neural networks can automatically learn complicated patterns from data. This makes them very useful for discovering previously unknown connections. However, deep neural networks suffer from overfitting and inefficient solutions due to the curse of dimensionality. By working with fewer dimensions, lowering computational cost, and boosting generalization, low-dimensional neural networks provide a beautiful solution. Different approaches to reducing dimensionality, training strategies, and potential uses for low-dimensional neural networks are presented. The power of these networks resides in their ability to revolutionize the field by providing effective answers to the difficult issue of inverse calculations.
