Smart Waste Monitoring System Over Urban Areas

Waste Disposal is a huge problem over many urban areas of the world. There have been several advancements in the field where the waste is monitored using Internet of Things approach. However, this does not help in reducing the amount of waste that is produced by the homes and neighbors. Also, it does not help in increasing the amount of waste that is recycled on the daily basis or followed to be reduced, reused or recycled. In this paper, we propose a smart waste monitoring system that enhances the amount of waste that is recycled on daily basis. We propose a system that provides alternatives to people to what they could do instead of directly throwing the undesirable material in a trash can. We are using state- of- art technology incorporated with Internet of Things, Machine Learning and TensorFlow to form a 360 solution to the waste problems that are faced mainly in areas where people live a fast - paced lifestyle. The better advantage here is that the solution proposed is sustainable with the system capable of self- cleaning and self- analysis. There will be prediction models that can estimate how much time it would take for the dustbins to reach their full capacity and inform the authorities accordingly. Lastly, there will be an interactive user interface to make sure the users can use the system tethering to their daily needs.
