Mechanism investigation of stability enhancement by slot on a transonic compressor
Abstract As aircraft engine blades develop towards high loads and low aspect ratios, the flow conditions in the tip region of transonic compressor rotors become more complex. The interaction between shock waves and boundary layers tends to induce fluid separation, thereby reducing the stable operating range of the rotor. To enhance the stability margin of the rotor, this study employs numerical simulation techniques to design jet slots on the rotor 37. Research results show that, without compromising the performance of the rotor, the slotted rotor can effectively enhance the stability margin of the rotor at both design and off-design speeds, with increases of 60.9% and 47.9% in surge margins compared to the prototype.
