SONOGRAPHIC EVALUATION OF THYROID LESIONS BASED ON TIRADS SCORING SYSTEM AND ELASTOGRAPHY WITH FNAC CORRELATION
Background: Thyroid nodules are common clinical findings that appear as distinct lesions within the thyroid gland, identifiable through radiological imaging. Sonographic evaluation, particularly using the Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (TIRADS) and elastography, has become essential in assessing and managing these nodules. This study aims to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and clinical utility of TIRADS and elastography, in conjunction with Fine-Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC), for a comprehensive assessment of thyroid lesions. Methodology: A total of 94 patients with thyroid lesions are selected using B-mode ultrasound. These participants were subjected to Elastography and Fine needle aspiration of lesion using ultrasound guidance. The Samples were immediately processed and classified using the Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology, I Results: n our study, the sensitivity and specificity of TIRADS were 87.06% and 88.89%, respectively, while elastography demonstrated a high sensitivity of 91.76% and specificity of 88.89%. The findings of our study highlight the clinical relevance of using TIRADS and elastography Conclusion: in conjunction with FNAC. By implementing this integrated evaluation framework, clinicians can provide more accurate, efficient, and patient-centered care, leading to better management and outcomes for patients with thyroid nodules.
