Characteristics of Burnout Symptoms Experienced by Teachers: A Comparison with General Office Workers
This study was conducted to examine whether there were differences in burnout symptoms between teachers and general office workers. The research utilized an employee job burnout assessment and conducted a multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) to compare burnout symptoms between the two groups. The findings are as follows: First, the MANOVA results indicated a significant difference in burnout symptoms between teachers and general office workers. Second, the exploration of specific differences in burnout sub-symptoms between teachers and general office workers revealed that general office workers exhibited higher levels of diminished work performance, proactive work avoidance, interpersonal avoidance, and depression. Third, in terms of physical exhaustion, teachers demonstrated significantly higher burnout scores compared to general office workers. This study provides a foundation for subsequent research and offers insights for the development of burnout prevention and intervention programs specifically targeting teachers by offering a detailed comparison of burnout symptoms between teachers and general office workers.
