MUSIC AND ANXIETY CONTROL: AN EXPLORATORY APPROACH TO COMPETIVE SPORTS PERFOMANCE

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of music intensity on anxiety control and physiological responses in athletes. Ten male district football players, aged 18-24 from Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education in Thiruvananthapuram, India, participated in the research. The study focused on independent variables such as music tempo (slow, medium and high) and anxiety level (medium, low), with galvanic skin response and heart rate as dependent variables.Participants were divided into low and medium anxiety groups based on the Sport Anxiety Scale2.Physiological data were collected using BioComp Infinity software, examining the effects of music intensity on anxiety and physiological responses. The results showed no significant differences in heart rate variability or skin temperature between low and high anxiety groups, ultimately rejecting the research hypothesis
