Study on the Characteristics of Pre-Swirl System with Radial Receiver-Holes

Through the CFD analysis, this paper studied the characteristics of swirl angles in a pre-swirl system, which includes radial receiver-holes.This research investigated the effect by varying only the swirl angle while maintaining throat area, and boundary conditions, and compared the design factors such as swirl ratio, discharge coefficient, and total temperature drop effectiveness. As the swirl angle increased within the range of 20 to 80 degrees, the swirl ratio at the nozzle exit decreased.Conversely, at the receiver-hole exit and the system exit, both increasing and decreasing trends in the swirl ratio were observed. Both the discharge coefficient of nozzle and total system increased as the swirl angle increased, however, at lower swirl angles, there was a difference in two discharge coefficients due to losses at the receiver-holes.The total temperature drop effectiveness decreased as the swirl angle increased.Through the results, this study proposed a suitable design swirl ratio range according to the design requirements of pressure and temperature for cooling the blades. . , , , . 20-80 , , 0.5 . , . . , .
