Dual-polarization nonreciprocal thermal radiation in an InAs/SiO2/Al three-layer planar structure with a 0.2 T magnetic field

Reducing the magnetic field required for the emitter is one of the key challenges for nonreciprocal thermal photonics. Few structures support the dual-polarized nonreciprocity at low magnetic field yet. A photolithography-free emitter consisting of an InAs/SiO 2 /Al three-layer planar structure is proposed. The simulation results show that the dual-polarization nonreciprocity surpasses 75% at the magnetic field of 0.2 T. The sensitivity of nonreciprocity to the magnetic field is 4.15 T −1 and 3.76 T −1 for the TM and TE polarizations, respectively. The physical mechanism underlying the observed phenomenon is revealed by the study of electric field distribution and coupled-mode theory. The proposed strategy can be applied to the practical spectral region of thermal radiation (∼10 µm) with optimized parameters. This work has potential in the fields of nonreciprocal solar cells and nonreciprocal radiative cooling.
