STUDY OF GROUNDWATER POLLUTION POSSIBILITY DUE TO OIL CONTAMINATION OF SOIL
The article is devoted to the study of groundwater pollution patterns due to soil contamination with oil. Taking into account the content of pollutants in oil, soil and water, as well as the Raoult’s law, an optimization problem was compiled and solved to identify the optimal relationship between soil density and pollutant concentration in the soil. It was determined that at inverse ratio of these values, the newly introduced safety factor can reach a minimum value, i.e. water pollution can reach a maximum. Therefore, for less groundwater pollution, soil with a higher density should be exposed to a larger volume of oil, and vice versa. Thus, it was determined that the minimum volume of pollutant transferred to groundwater can be achieved if a soil area with a lower density is flooded with a smaller volume of oil, and vice versa.
