Effect of 12 weeks Swimming Exercise Program on MCP-1, Pulse transmit time in obese women

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of 12weeks swimming exercise on MCP-1, PTT(Pulse transmit time) and % body fat in obese middle-aged women. Subjects with over 30% body fat were classified into two groups ; exercise (n=16) and control group (n=16). Analytical items were MCP-1, pulse transmit and % body fat. The swimming exercise program was conducted 60 minute/day, 5days a week for 12weeks. The results were summarized as follows. MCP-1, and % body fat were significantly reduced in exercise group. Ptt of upper(right and left hand) and low limb(right and left foot) were significantly improved in exercise group. The results suggest that the body fat reduction in obese individuals through swimming exercise help the blood circulation and may lessen risk of cardiovascular disease.
