A Study on Korean Language Teachers' Working Experiences at Overseas Educational Institutions
This study explored the experiences of Korean language teachers working at overseas educational institutions, focusing on narratives. To achieve this, the study examined interview data centered on the process of participating in overseas work, experiences during the assignments, and life after returning from overseas work, aiming to understand how these experiences impacted the teachers' lives. The study also suggested several key considerations for the future dispatch of Korean language teachers abroad, including thorough pre-departure preparation and training, support for adapting to local life, ensuring educational autonomy and creativity, establishing a system for continuous management and feedback after dispatch, and providing stable job opportunities upon return. Insights gained from the experiences of Korean language teachers can offer important implications for improving the quality of overseas Korean language education and for developing strategies for teacher training and dispatch.
