This paper explores the construction of female characters in Alice Walker s The Color Purple through the lens of trauma narrative. By analyzing Celie, Nettie, and Shug s traumatic experiences, it reveals trauma narrative s role in exposing female oppression and societal injustices, while highlighting resilience and growth. The study shows how trauma narratives depict the characters journeys towards healing, self-realization, and empowerment. The paper also discusses the novel s real-world impact on perceptions of women s rights and the significance of literature in advocating for social change. Ultimately, it underscores the enduring relevance of The Color Purple in contemporary discourses on gender equality and racial justice.
