SONATAS OF SAINT PETERSBURG COMPOSERS IN THE MIRROR OF THE RUSSIAN MUSIC TRADITIONS (BASED ON THE WORKS OF A. DZYUBA)

The article examines the piano sonatas of Saint Petersburg composers of the second half of the 20th century in terms of reflecting the traditions of Russian music in them. Working in the sonata genre, domestic composers generally adhered to the classical concept of the cycle, but invariably implemented the traditions of national music in it and followed the path paved by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Medtner. A detailed analysis of the sonatas of Anatoly Dzyuba made it possible to conclude that the traditions of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff were developed in his work, and it was Rachmaninoff’s sensuality, spirituality and humanism that became in demand in the music of the 21st century. The neo-romantic vector in the genre of piano sonata of Saint Petersburg composers arose in opposition to the avantgarde with its radical experiments, which caused “nostalgia” for a sincere, emotionally filled, artistic statement appealing to the human soul.
