THE PATRIOTIC THEME IN CANTATA AND ORATORIO WORKS BY YU. SHAPORIN
The article is devoted to vocal and symphonic works by the major Soviet composer Yu. Shaporin - “On the Field of Kulikovo”, “The Tale of the Battle for the Russian Land” and “How Long Will the Kite Fly” written in the 1930s-1940s. They are united by the patriotic theme that underlies these works. The large-scale, highly artistic heroic and patriotic opuses of the composer have been undeservedly forgotten - they are practically not performed, and new studies related to the work of the classic of Russian music have not appeared in recent decades. The author reveals the features of the dramatic compositions, their advantages and disadvantages, the uniqueness of the reflection of the patriotic theme in them.
