THE ORIGIN AND DEVELOPMENT OF PIANO ART IN CHINA
With the influx of missionaries and foreign merchants in the 19th century, the piano gradually took its place in Chinese music history. In the course of more than one hundred years of exploration and practice, the Western piano music art has been fused and exchanged with the traditional Chinese music theory, gradually forming a piano art form with Chinese characteristics. The paper is devoted to the origin and development of piano art in the People’s Republic of China. The key stages and factors that influenced the formation of the piano school in China, as well as the influence of Western classical music on Chinese musical culture, are considered.
