Near‐Field‐Regulated Ultrafast Laser Supra‐Wavelength Structuring Directly on Ultrahard Metallic Glasses (Adv. Mater. 45/2024)

Near-Field-Regulated Supra-Wavelength Ultrafast-Laser Lithography In article number 2405766, Yun-Lu Sun, Peilei Zhang, and colleagues develop the near-field-regulated ultrafast-laser supra-wavelength structuring of self-arrayed micro/nano-pores directly on hard-to-process (ultra-hard or high-melting-temperature) metals. The self-arrayed micro/nano-pores have adjustable period (1–5 μm) and geometry (e.g., 500 nm-6 μm in diameter). They decrease the surface infrared reflectance at 2.5–6.5 μm from ≈80% to ≈5%. The universality of multi-physical coupling and near-field enhancements makes this approach widely applicable, or even irreplaceable, in various applications.
