Research on Investment Efficiency of "The Belt and Road" National Infrastructure PPP Projects

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has been the centerpiece of China's foreign policy since 2013, with a focus on infrastructure development and investment in countries along the ancient Silk Road. As part of this initiative, China has been promoting the development of public-private partnership (PPP) projects to help finance and build infrastructure in participating countries. This paper aims to assess the investment efficiency of the National infrastructure PPP projects under the BRI. In comparison to traditional infrastructure projects, PPP projects involve many stakeholders, and the level of cooperation among the various stakeholders has a direct impact on the project's outcomes. As a consequence of this, doing research on the efficiency of PPP project collaboration is an absolute necessity. The study uses both primary and secondary data sources, including interviews with project managers and financial analysis of project data. The results show that while there are some successful PPP projects under the BRI, overall investment efficiency is hindered by issues such as poor project management, lack of transparency, and regulatory challenges. The results also manifest that the application of PPP, the increasing amount of and investments on PPP projects all significantly helped improve the efficiency, which implies a good effect of PPP. Moreover, the efficiency had been significantly improved since the BRI was put forward in 2013, which proves the value and effectiveness of this worldwide policy. Which really great to know that, the result has given us a positive feedback regarding upcoming investors of PPP Project. The study provides recommendations for improving the investment efficiency of PPP projects under the BRI.
