New Data on Density and Excess Molar Volume of Aqueous Solutions of Nitric Acid at 283.15–323.15 K and 0.1 MPa

Nitric acid is an important industrial chemical with usage across the manufacturing of chemicals, fertilizers, explosives, polymers, and fine chemicals. In this work, new experimental data on the density of aqueous binary solutions of nitric acid in the range of 0–69% w/w scale in the temperature range of 283.15–323.15 K were reported. The density data were also correlated with the concentrations in three scales, i.e., mole fractions, molal, and molar. Excess molar volumes of nitric acid solutions were estimated and correlated with a fourth-order Redlich–Kister polynomial. The apparent molar volume of nitric acid at infinite dilution was estimated and compared to the values reported in the literature.
