A journey through the inspiring life of Brahmasri VMC Sankaran Namboodirippad: An eminent toxicologist and an ardent guru

Abstract The present paper sheds light on the phenomenal and inspiring life of Brahmasri VMC Sankaran Namboodirippad, a toxicologist in Ayurveda and a renowned physician from the central part of Kerala. The article presents the life profile of Sri Namboodirippad after meticulous documentation through a series of interviews and information from other literary sources. The information available about his childhood life, education, treatment experiences, and contributions as a teacher of Ayurveda is presented here. Sri Namboodirippad, born in an orthodox Namboodiri family, was a multifaceted personality who inspired aspirants of Ayurveda from the new generation not only from India but also from abroad. This article enlists a few of his treatment experiences in various toxicological and disease conditions that enlightened the minds of his students. This article ends with a note on his contribution as a teacher who transformed students from various clans to understand the importance of the fundamentals of Ayurveda in the prevention and treatment of human ailments.
