BIM-Based IoT Indoor Planning Method

This paper presents a method for planning the placement of access points and gateways in indoor environments in an Internet of Things scenario, using data obtained from a building information model of the site in question. The method uses the Unified Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm III to find Pareto-optimal solutions. To calculate path loss, the method uses the Mootley-Keenan model in 3D space. Application of the method in a real-world scenario yielded promising results.

Abstract

This paper presents a method for planning the placement of access points and gateways in indoor environments in an Internet of Things scenario, using data obtained from a building information model of the site in question. The method uses the Unified Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm III to find Pareto-optimal solutions. To calculate path loss, the method uses the Mootley-Keenan model in 3D space. Application of the method in a real-world scenario yielded promising results.
