Enhancing Undergraduate Research on Small Modular Reactor-Integrated Distribution Grid

Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are an emerging technology with load-following capabilities. However, further research is required to understand the efficiency of SMR integration into distribution systems. This paper proposes the development of SMR model using steam turbine power generation equations to gather power generation data for optimal power flow and voltage stability analyses when SMR model is integrated into a localized power distribution system. The analysis involves a simulation of SMR and Variable Energy Resources (VERs), such as Wind Turbines (WT) and Photovoltaic (PV) generation, into an IEEE-39 bus system. This paper also compares the individual and collective stability contributions of each generation source within the system.
