An Efficient Curved Patches-Based Meshing Method for Calculating EM Performance of BoR Radomes

The planar patches or nonuniform rational B-spline surfaces-based meshing methods usually lead to low accuracy or efficiency of numerical integration of physical optics. So, a general, accurate, and efficient curved patches-based meshing method is proposed. The cubic-spline interpolation is adopted to normalize the body-of-revolution radome, which is divided into front and back regions. Dense and sparse sampling points are generated, respectively, in the front and back regions of the radome generatrix. The meshing information can be obtained by rotating the sampling points of the radome generatrix around the radome axis. To make a tradeoff between the accuracy and efficiency of numerical integration, the sampling spacing is selected as the smallest positive even fraction of the wavelength that achieves the desired accuracy. Compared with existing methods, the proposed method improves the accuracy of numerical integration by 11.08% and the efficiency of numerical integration by 75.72%.
