A Cinema Therapy Analysis for Crisis Counseling between Wild Goose Family and Middle-aged Men : Focusing on the movie “Single Rider”

This study examined the problems experienced by a middle-aged man who is a goose father through the movie ‘Single Rider’ and analyzed the scenes and text of the movie using the ‘Cinema-appreciation-psycho -therapy’ approach to approach the client. In middle age, adapting well to change and overcoming psychological crises is an important task, and for middle-aged men, Psychological stability is also an essential factor in accepting themselves and maintaining meaningful interpersonal relationships with others. Therefore, this study aims to provide an easier approach to understanding the goose family to the general public through the mass media, movies, and to understand their lives and identify the problems expressed in their daily lives, thereby providing clues for future preventive interventions to overcome or prevent family crises. When the life story in the movie is reproduced or re-screened as my story, the movie comes back to life as our life itself, not just a picture reflected on the screen, and the effectiveness of movie therapy increases here. The story in the movie is the story of people, and the characters in the movie are people we can meet in reality. ‘Cinema-appreciation-psycho-therapy’ is a method of understanding oneself and solving problems through a psycho-therapeutic approach after watching a movie, while ‘Self-help cinema psycho-therapy’ is a psycho-therapeutic effect that occurs through the voluntary actions of the client and the movie text without the intervention of a counselor. The research method is to explore the psychological crisis of middle-aged men by focusing on the life of Kang Jae-hoon, the main character of the movie ‘Single Rider’, and it seems that it will help them gain psychological stability and have an opportunity to reflect on how they manage their lives, which will help them spend a healthier middle age. A way to reduce the gap between the ideal and reality of middle age requires readjusting goals. Kang Jae-hoon, the main character of the movie ‘Single Rider’, experiences a crisis, his social support base is shaken, and he makes an extreme choice in a living environment where he has to handle everything alone. Anxiety is a risk factor that affects the experience of frustration at each stage of life. A healthy family is a system that protects individuals as a community and guarantees the physical and psychological happiness of family members as they adapt to society. Crisis counseling refers to professional clinical activities that help people who are facing a dangerous situation or in a state of crisis due to serious problems. In particular, ‘Cinema-psycho-therapy’ refers to all methods that utilize film and video media for counseling and psycho-therapy, and ‘Cinema-psycho-therapy’ involves selecting a specific cinema, watching the movie, and integrating the film into the lives of the client and educator through communication between them via the text. Among the ‘Cinema-psycho-therapy’ techniques,‘Self-help cinema psycho-therapy’ is a method in which psychotherapy effects occur through the film text and the client’s spontaneous actions without the intervention of the counselor, experiencing emotional catharsis through the film and feeling and accepting the film as self-therapy. One method that can bring about psychotherapy effects is to select the film ‘Single Rider’, watch the movie, and integrate the film into the client’s life via pre-analyzed data and text. This can bring about self-analysis and therapeutic results.

Abstract

This study examined the problems experienced by a middle-aged man who is a goose father through the movie ‘Single Rider’ and analyzed the scenes and text of the movie using the ‘Cinema-appreciation-psycho -therapy’ approach to approach the client. In middle age, adapting well to change and overcoming psychological crises is an important task, and for middle-aged men, Psychological stability is also an essential factor in accepting themselves and maintaining meaningful interpersonal relationships with others.
