Model-based design of sustainable and smart low-energy building through the Phase Change Materials
New trends in product lifecycle development require that product is conceived by carefully foreseeing its service after delivery and its decommissioning at life end. Service must induce an early RAMS analysis in the design process, as well as decommissioning issues can help circularity in terms of reuse, remanufacturing, refurbishment and recycling of materials. Those additions allow performing a deeper trade-off analysis and defining a suitable layout in terms of enabling technologies and system architecture. However, they require to develop some suitable approaches and analyses, being already investigated and proposed by authors in previous papers. Particularly, including the life cycle assessment and life cycle costing analyses within the activities performed along the design process allows applying some criteria of eco and circular design, respectively. In this paper, a practical application, as the low-energy building system design, is analyzed to implement the updated MBSE, to simultaneously deal with system sustainability and smartness, and thus highlighting effectiveness and benefits of that methodological approach.
